About Plastic Bags

Plastic comes from natural elements like carbon, hydrogen, oxygen, nitrogen, and sulphur. Some types are clear and tough, like those used in glasses or goggles, while others are strong yet light, ideal for shipping products. Plastic can also resist bacteria and is commonly used in food packaging for several reasons. It helps protect food, ensures food safety, and keeps food fresh for longer.

Durable

Plastic's strong polymer chains make it tough to break.

Ideal for food packaging and delivery.

Safe

Safe and won't break into dangerous pieces if dropped.

Hygienic

Plastic packaging is great for food, medicine, and pharmaceuticals. It can be sealed without human touch and meets food safety laws.

Secure

Have tamper-proof and child-resistant closures. You can see the product through the pack before buying.

Material

We use two different types of plastic materials:

  • HDPE: High-density polyethylene are widely used for grocery shopping, food packaging, and lightweight trash. They're cheaper than LDPE bags and more see-through due to their thicker structure. HDPE plastic makes grocery bags, flexible packaging materials, and injection moulded parts.
  • LDPE: Low-density polyethylene is a soft and flexible material with lower density, strength, and heat resistance than HDPE. It's made under high pressure (1,000-3,000 bar) and has a lower melting point (115°C) than HDPE. LDPE is used in food packaging like coffee can lids, bread bags, soda can rings, and produce bags at grocery stores.

Plastic Bag - Usage

  • Grocery Shopping: Used to carry groceries from the store to home due to their lightweight and durability. See our White Plastic T-shirt Bag.
  • Food Storage: Convenient for storing leftovers and keeping food fresh in the refrigerator or freezer. Check out our Stand-up Foil Pouches, Zip Locks, and Vacuum Seal Bags.
  • Waste Disposal: Commonly used to collect and dispose of household waste, making trash management easier. Our Plastic Garbage Bags are ideal for this purpose.
  • Product Packaging: Widely used by businesses to package products for sale. We recommend our Stand-up Foil Pouches or Poly Mailer Bags for this purpose.

Buying Guide

Selecting the right plastic bags for your needs requires considering a few factors:

  • Size: Choose a bag size that comfortably accommodates your food items without being too tight or leaving excessive space.
  • Material: Opt for food-grade bags that are safe for contacting food and meet relevant regulations.
  • Thickness: Consider the thickness of the plastic concerning the type of food you'll be storing. Thicker bags provide additional protection for heavier or more delicate items.
  • Features: Decide if you need transparency, resealability, or printing based on your specific needs and branding preferences.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the meaning of the numbers on plastic?

The recycling number, also known as the Resin Identification Code, tells the type of plastic used. According to the Plastics Industry Association (PIA) and the Society of Plastics Engineers (SPE), here are what the numbers represent:

  • Resin ID Code 1: PET (Polyethylene Terephthalate)
  • Resin ID Code 2: HDPE
  • Resin ID Code 3: PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride)
  • Resin ID Code 4: LDPE
  • Resin ID Code 5: PP (Polypropylene)
  • Resin ID Code 6: PS (Polystyrene)
  • Resin ID Code 7: Other or O

Why it’s better to use plastic bags?

Plastic bags are small and light, so they take up less landfill space than other bags. This means landfills can hold more waste without needing to expand. Reusing them is even better for the environment than recycling them.

What should I do with my old plastic bags?

Recycling old plastic bags can be repurposed into other products. You can recycle them at a local recycling center. Alternatively, you can reuse them at home or repurpose them for crafts to avoid being in a landfill.
